The way China fighting terrorism.. is clear stupidism

If one is prohibited from worshiping Allah freely, migration becomes obligatory…

Alhamdulillah we live in a free country… free enough that it allows us to worship Allah freely

Only For Arabs

So people say that Arabs are the least catered for segment of Muslims in the United States. They also say that Arabs are arrogant and they just dont want to listen to any non-Arab speaking shaykh. They also say that Arabs are the least active in their communities and the least religious group amongst American Muslims. All of which I agree with and hence I started this page, hoping to attract as many Arabs as possible by adding Audio and Video segments of Arabic lectures as well as English.

And I will start with my all time favorite:

Tazkiya – Part I

Bismillah,

So I was thinking what should be my very first post of Tazkiya only to come to one conclusion, knowledge. Many reasons pushed me to start with this topic, but the main reason was the statement of the teacher of al Imam AlShafie, Wakee’, when AlShafie complained to him about his bad memorization he replied back to him and said:

شكوت إلى وكيع سوء حفظي فأرشدني إلى ترك المعاصي
وقال أن العلم نــور ونور الله لا يؤتاه عاصي

I complained to Wakee’ about my bad memory, and he adviced me that I should keep away from sin.
He said, verily the knowledge of Allah is light, and the light of Allah is not given to the sinner.

I find it interesting that wakee’ immediately connected the lack of memorization and lack of attaining knowledge to sinning (the letter fa in fa’arshadani is to indicate that wakee’ replied swiftly). And hence, it can easily be said that the front door to any becoming a person of knowledge is to have Tazkiya and the door to Tazkiya is to stop sinning.

With that being said, we can start our short journey insha’Allah on how to attain Tazkiya with its different catagories.

Step1: Belief in Allah.
Allah said in Surat Al Nazi’aat:
Surat AlNazi’at (79) verse 18
(Allah said)And say to him (oh Moses) “Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)”

Allah ‘azza wa jal ordered Musa Alahi Assalam to go to the Pharaoh of Egypt and say to him “would you purify yourself? From this aya, we can say that the first form of Tazkiya (purification) is to believe in the oneness of Allah. I wont go in details in this topic due to its vastness (you can just buy Light of Guidance CD set by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi and learn a little more about the Tawheed, oneness of Allah).

Step 2: Physical purity.

a) Clean and nice cloth:
As for clean cloth, it is self explanatory. As for the nice cloth, all I can say is dont think that by wearing old cloth that doesn’t look good will make you close to Allah (given that you have the means to buy better, newer, and nicer cloth), on the contrary, the prophet said, Indeed Allah is beautiful and He loves that which is beautiful.

c) Being in state of wudu’:
Let me ask you a question, dont you think that there is a lot of purification (physically and spiritually) in wudu’ if Allah made it mandatory on us before Salah?

The obligatory (i.e the bare minimum) actions of Wudu’:
1. Washing the face completely once.
2. Washing the arms up to the elbows, once.
3. Wiping the entire head, including the ears.
4. Washing the feet up to ankles, once.
5. This must be done in order.
6. This must be done continuously, i.e., the parts of the body must be washed one after the other with no lengthy interruption between washing one part and the next.

c) Clean car: means of transportation
Most people learn their deen nowadays in their cars through CD sets and MP3s, so dont discount this point

d) Organize your tasks:
Organizing and prioritizing will indeed help you worship Allah much better. That is due to the peace of mind and the comfort that is attained by knowing that you have everything taken care of and the worry and the whisper of the shaytan wont affect you.

e) Observing the Islamic Hygiene:
This can be summed up by the following statement, know the Fitra and follow it. In case you dont know, here are the hadith that mention them
‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her), who said: The Messenger of Allah said: “Ten things are part of the fitrah:

1. Cutting the Moustache,
2. Letting the Beard grow,
3. Using Siwaak (tooth-stick),
4. Snuffing up water into the nose,
5. Cutting the Nails,
6. Washing the finger-joints,
7. Plucking the Armpit Hairs,
8. Shaving the Pubes and
9. washing the private parts after relieving oneself.”
10. Zakariya said: Mus’ab said: I have forgotten the tenth but I think it was rinsing the mouth.
[Narrated by Muslim, 261].

In the next post, I will continue with Step 3: Internal Purification
